For new ActiveCampaign accounts created on or after October 20, 2023, email send limits allow you to have more control over your email sending. As you approach or reach your email send limit, you will have the option to add additional email sends.
Take Note
- Email Send Limits only apply to new accounts created on or after October 20, 2023
- Email Send Limits do not apply to resellers or resold accounts
- Only Primary Admins can update Email Send Limits on an account
- Email send limits only apply to campaigns and automation emails. This does not include 1:1 or transactional emails
How email send limits work
The email send limit is the number of campaigns and automation emails you can send in a month from your account based on your account level:
Email Send Limit Amount | Marketing Plan | Marketing & Sales Bundle |
Lite | 10x Contact Limit | - |
Plus | 10x Contact Limit | 12x Contact Limit |
Professional | 12x Contact Limit | 15x Contact Limit |
Enterprise | 15x Contact Limit | 20x Contact Limit |
Email send limit resets
If you are on a monthly plan, the email send limit will reset on the first day of your monthly billing cycle.
If you are on a yearly plan, the email send limit will reset on the same day of the month as your annual billing cycle.
Notifications and send limit thresholds
As you approach your email send limit during the month, all users will receive in-app notifications when the account is at 50%, 75%, 90%, and 100% of the monthly email send capacity. Notifications will appear in your ActiveCampaign account on the main dashboard, Campaigns overview page, and Automations overview page.
Only the Primary Admin can update the email send limits on the account. All users will be able to see and click through the notification but will be asked to reach out to their Primary Admin.
In addition to the in-app notifications, the Primary Admin will also receive an email when the account is at 75% and 100% of its email capacity.
If your account exceeds 100% of the email send limit, you will not be able to send emails until the email send limit is either:
- upgraded by a Primary Admin
- wait until the email send limit resets for the next month
Upgrading and Downgrading
If you choose to increase your email send limit, the add-on charge will be a monthly recurring charge. If you are on a monthly plan, it will be added to your monthly charges. If you are on a yearly plan, this will be charged each month in addition to your yearly fee.
If you only need the additional sends for a certain amount of time, you can adjust the send limits back to the default that matches your Tier and Plan before the next monthly charge.
When downgrading, if your account is over the send limit that you downgrade to, you will not be able to send emails once the downgrade is confirmed. There will not be a prorated refund for the remaining send amounts not used.
