Purchasing the SMS add-on and SMS credits

If you're the Primary Account Admin or an Admin with purchase permissions, you can purchase the SMS add-on and SMS sending credits for your account.

Take Note

• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded on or after January 3, 2023: SMS add-on can only be purchased with 1000 SMS credits. You can purchase additional SMS credits from the billing page or the “Send SMS” automation action
  • • SMS credits for the add-on are charged on a monthly basis
    • SMS credits for the add-on are only available for that month. The SMS credit amount refreshes to what is included in the plan, plus additional credit amounts you have added. Unused credits do not roll over
    • For accounts that are paid annually, SMS credits are only available for that month. Unused credits do not roll over
• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded before January 3, 2023:
  
  • • Plus and Professional plans receive 25 free SMS credits per month
    • Enterprise plans receive 1,000 free SMS credits per month
    • SMS credit purchases cannot be set up to auto-renew
    • For accounts that are paid annually, SMS credits will be available for the entire year

How to get SMS on your account

Purchasing SMS depends on when you purchased or upgraded your ActiveCampaign account:

• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded on after January 3, 2023, can purchase the SMS add-on on your billing page.
• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded before January 3, 2023, have SMS included in the plan.

Note, for all plans, if you intend to send messages to recipients located in the United States, you are required to register for A2P 10DLC.

How to purchase SMS credits

Once SMS is available, based on your plan, additional SMS credits can be purchased by:

• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded on or after January 3, 2023:
  
  • • Purchasing credits on the Billing page 
    • Setting up a " Send SMS" action 
• ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded before January 3, 2023:
  
  • • Setting up a " Send SMS" action

Purchase the SMS add-on

1. Click your name on the bottom left screen and click Billing & Upgrade to get to your billing page.
2. Scroll down to “Available add-ons” at the bottom of the page. In the SMS option, click “Add to plan.”
3. The “Review Purchase” modal will summarize changes to your billing. Click “Confirm purchase” to purchase the SMS add-on. Once confirmed, your available SMS credits will be shown in the upper right corner of your billing page.

Purchase SMS credits from the billing page

1. Click your name on the bottom left screen, then click Billing & Upgrade to get to your billing page.
2. Click “Edit” next to your available SMS credits in the upper left corner.
3. In the modal, move the slider to the new SMS credit amount. The additional cost of the SMS credits will show in the right corner of the modal while you adjust the slider.
4. Once you choose an amount, click “Continue.”
5. In the next modal, review the updates, then click “Confirm Purchase.” This modal will tell you how much you will be charged today, along with the future monthly charge of your new SMS credit amount.
6. A “Purchase was successful” pop-up will show in the upper right corner to confirm the purchase. Your available SMS credits update and show the new amount in the upper left corner.

Purchase credits from a "Send SMS" automation action

1. From the Automations Overview page, click "Edit" for the automation you wish to use with SMS.
2. Click "Sending Options," then drag and drop the "Send SMS" action to your automation.
3. The "Send SMS" action modal will open. Click the "Purchase" button.
4. In the next modal, either move the slider or click the drop down to select the number of credits you wish to purchase, then click the “Continue” or "Purchase" button.
5. The modal window will reload and:
   
   • For ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded before January 3, 2023:
     
     • • The credit card we have on file for you will be charged and show you the number of SMS credits you have. When finished, click the "Save" button.
   • For ActiveCampaign accounts purchased or upgraded on or after January 3, 2023:
     
     • • Review the updates, then click “Confirm Purchase.” This modal will tell you how much you will be charged today, along with the future monthly charge of your new SMS credit amount.
       • A “Purchase was successful” pop-up will show in the upper right corner to confirm the purchase. You can view your available SMS credits by going to Account > Billing & Upgrade.
