Google Contacts is an online address book that is integrated with Gmail, Calendar, and other Google products.
This article will walk you through how to add your Google Contacts to your ActiveCampaign account using the Automatic Importer.
Take note
- Once the integration is set up, new contacts will sync to your ActiveCampaign account every 30 minutes
- Depending on the size of your file, the import may take several hours to complete
- You will not be asked to map custom fields. We create the custom fields for auto-importers and will map those for you. For this auto-import, we will map the contact’s name, email address, and organization name as it appears in Google Contacts
Configure the integration
- Click Contacts on the left menu.
- Click the "Import" button.
- Locate Google Contacts. Click “Google Contacts” to open it.
- A modal window will pop up. Click “Next.”
- A new modal window will appear. Click the Google account you want to use.
- The next window will ask for permission to access your account. Click “Continue” to proceed.
- In the next modal, select the list(s) to which you want to add contacts. To add contacts to your desired list(s), click on the list name, then click “Next.” The selected list will be highlighted in green.
- If you do not wish to add contacts to a list, do not select a list and click "Next"
- Choose an import option: "Import contacts and auto import new contacts in the future" or "Import contacts and do not auto import new contacts in the future."
- Add a filter to narrow the data imported (optional) and select which Contact Group to import into your account (required).
- Click “Next” to complete the setup of your import. Your existing Google Contacts will be added to your ActiveCampaign account, and new contacts will be synced every 30 minutes.
About contact groups
If you do not have a contact group set up in your Google account, then you cannot choose a group when setting up your auto-import. If you proceed with the import without a contact group, then the following contacts will be added to your account:
- Any contacts you have created
- Contacts considered “Frequently Contacted” by Google
- Contacts you interact with
