[Video] How do I manage my custom fields?



In ActiveCampaign, there is no limit to the number of custom fields that you can have in your account. However, the more fields you have, the more cumbersome and unwieldy it can become. This article will walk you our top recommendations for keeping your custom fields organized.

Make your fields available to specific lists
By default, all custom fields are available to all lists. This means that all custom fields will be listed on your contact’s profile page and in any notifications you have set up under your form settings and automations. You can limit which fields appear on both the profile page and notifications by associating your fields with specific lists. Once you do so, only fields that apply to the list(s) your contact is in will appear in their profile page and notifications. Reorder your custom fields
By default, when you create a custom field, they will appear in the order that they were created in both the contact profile page and in your notification emails. You can reorder your custom fields so that you can have your most important fields appear at the top of your contact’s profile page.

Note: Only custom fields you create can be reordered. Default system fields, such as Email, Name, Phone, and Organization cannot be reordered.

To reorder your custom fields:

  1. Go to Lists and click “Manage Fields.”
  2. Click “Reorder Fields.”


  3. Drag and drop the fields to arrange them to your preference.

  4. Click “Done” when finished.

Note: All fields, even blank ones, will be included in the email notification. There is currently no way to "hide" empty custom fields.
