Use the LinkedIn Ads integration to connect your event and subscription forms on LinkedIn to ActiveCampaign.

This integration syncs contact data to your ActiveCampaign account when a connected Lead Gen form is submitted. You can use this data to track and nurture new leads from LinkedIn and send them through automated workflows.

Take note

  • To set up this integration, you will need an ActiveCampaign account, a LinkedIn account with the ability to pay for Ads, and an active LinkedIn Gen form
  • This is a 1-way sync from LinkedIn to ActiveCampaign
  • You can connect Sponsored and Organic Lead Gen forms with this integration
  • For Event Forms, you must be either the Administrator or Content_Administrator role
  • For Ad Forms, you must be either the Administrator or Lead_Gen_Forms_Manager role
  • This integration does not add contacts to a list in ActiveCampaign
  • You can map fields from LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms to existing contact fields in ActiveCampaign. This integration will not create new contact fields
  • It is not possible to map LinkedIn form fields to Account or Deal fields in ActiveCampaign

How the Linkedin Ads integration works

The integration setup takes place in your ActiveCampaign account. Connect a Sponsored (Ad Lead Type) or Organic Lead Gen (Event Lead Type) form.

What to expect with the sync

When data syncs from LinkedIn, a contact record is created or updated for the person who submitted your form.

Contact records will contain a LinkedIn custom object. This custom object displays all form submission data for the synced contact from that point forward, including:

  • Lead Ad ID
  • Form Name
  • Date of Submission
  • Lead Type
  • Account ID - LinkedIn Account ID
  • Associated Entity ID
  • Campaign Name - Values will populate your Ads form. It will remain blank for any Event form submissions
  • Test Lead - the only way to identify if a contact synced from a test form
  • Form Field - any custom field used on a LinkedIn form. This creates a single-string response

Clicking the ellipsis on the right will open a side panel with more details from the form submissions.

The information displayed in these fields is for informational purposes only. It’s not possible to edit these fields from your ActiveCampaign account.

Tags added to contacts

As contacts sync from LinkedIn, the following tags will appear on their contact records:

  • linkedin-lead-gen-integration
  • linkedin-lead-gen-integration-FORM NAME

Linkedin Automation triggers

Upon the integration setup, two new automation triggers will be available for you to use with synced contacts:

  • LinkedIn Lead Gen Form is created: This trigger pulls newly created contacts into your automation when they submit a Lead Gen form
  • LinkedIn Lead Gen Form is updated: This trigger pulls contacts into your automation when their information is updated based on a Lead Gen form submission

Personalize emails

You can use the LinkedIn custom object fields to personalize any email campaign from an automation. These personalization options are under the "Custom Objects" section in the "Add a Personalization" modal.

Note that you must use a LinkedIn automation trigger for the "Custom Objects" section to appear with your LinkedIn custom object fields.

It is not possible to use these fields in one-to-one emails or campaigns sent from the Campaigns tab in your ActiveCampaign account.

Site tracking

Form submissions from this integration do not add a site tracking cookie to contacts.

Segmentation

After setting up the integration, LinkedIn information will be available for you to use in the Segment Builder. A list of LinkedIn fields and what they mean can be found on any contact record added to your account through this integration
