UTM parameters are snippets of text added to URLs to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and monitor website traffic. UTM parameters are composed of key-value pairs that provide information about a specific URL's source, medium, campaign, term, and content. By appending UTM parameters to URLs, businesses can identify which marketing channels, campaigns, or specific advertisements drive traffic and conversions.

UTM parameters and Google Analytics

ActiveCampaign makes it easy to automatically append UTM parameters for all links in your emails. This is the same as configuring each email to work with Google Analytics.
To use UTM parameters, make sure the Google Analytics setting is enabled on the Campaign Summary page for each campaign.
From there, you'll be presented with a modal window asking you to specify the Google Analytics campaign name. Type the Google Analytics campaign name into the field provided and click "Done." This will match the utm_campaign parameter.
