Steps to connect your phone number to WhatsApp
- From your ActiveCampaign account, click WhatsApp > Settings on the left menu.
- On the Account config page, click “WhatsApp accounts.”
- Click “Start now” for either Meta option.
- Select the phone number origin. There are three options to choose from:
-
Use a new number
Choose this option if the number you’re configuring hasn’t been used in WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, or WhatsApp Business API. This is the easiest option to choose as you won’t need to do any additional steps. -
Migrate a number in use on the WhatsApp Business App
Choose this option if you want to migrate a number that is currently being used in the WhatsApp Business App. Note that WhatsApp Business API and WhatsApp Business App are different platforms that can’t be used simultaneously. You'll need to delete your WhatsApp account to continue, once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to migrate your number. Once you’ve deleted your account, wait five minutes before continuing to follow this guide as Facebook takes some time to update their systems. -
Migrate from another Business Service Provider (BSP)
Choose this option if you want to migrate a number that is currently being used in another Business Solution Provider (BSP) to WhatsApp. You’ll need to have the necessary permissions to do this and disable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to continue. Follow these instructions to learn how to disable 2FA or ask your current BSP to.

Use a new number
-
Confirm that you own a Business Manager account and website.
To continue, you’ll need to confirm that you own a Business Manager account and a website. If you don’t have a Business Manager account, you can create one. Websites are needed so that Facebook can verify your business is real. If you don’t have one, your number might get blocked. - Click the "Login with Meta" button to begin the onboarding process. A modal window will appear. Authorize WhatsApp to interact with your business, then click “Get Started.”
-
Add your business information, then click “Next.”
-
Use the dropdown fields to create or select a WhatsApp account. Then click “Next.”
-
Add your WhatsApp profile details, then click “Next.”
- Verify your phone number via phone call or SMS. To do so, add your phone number to the field provided. Then select either the phone call or SMS option. When finished with this step, click “Next.”
Your number is now connected to WhatsApp. Please note that this may take a few moments to process.
How to disable your number’s two-factor authentication
If you are coming from another BSP or your number was already connected to WhatsApp Business API, you’ll need to disable 2FA to continue. Depending on the BSP, you may need to reach out to their support team for help or you can do it yourself.
To disable 2FA:
- Go to your WhatsApp Business Manager.
-
Click the gear icon (⚙️) next to the phone number you’re migrating.
- Go to the Two-Factor authentication tab and click on “Disable 2FA.”
