Each automation in your ActiveCampaign account has its own Automation Overview report. This report provides performance statistics for the automation itself and the messaging it contains. You can use this report to identify areas of opportunity and success with each automation.
Take note
All email opens from Apple Mail clients will be reflected in these metrics. This includes contacts who use the Apple Mail app with iOS 15 with Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) enabled on their device. To learn more, visit ActiveCampaign and Apple iOS 15 Mail Privacy Protection.
How to access the Automation Overview report
The Automation Overview report for each automation is located in the Reports section in your account. The Overview reports refresh every 24 hours.
To access this report, navigate to Reports > Automation Reports > All Automations.
Alternatively, you can access this report by navigating to Automations > All Automations under "Reports."
The Automation Reports page will load and list all automations in your account. Each automation will display the number of campaigns it contains and the number of contacts who entered it.
If you have several automations in your account, you can filter them by label. Sorting by label can help you locate the report you wish to view.
To sort by label, click the "Label" dropdown at the top of the page then click the label you wish to sort the automations by.
Once the Automation Reports page loads, click the ellipsis for the automation you wish you review report data for. Then click the "Automation Overview" option in the modal pop-up.
A new tab in your browser will open, and the Automation Overview report will load.
Information included in the Automation Overview report
The Automations Overview report will include the following information (if applicable):
- Automation name - The name of the automation in your ActiveCampaign account
- Direct links to edit your automation and view the automation map - Clicking these links will allow you to view/edit your automation and view the automation map
- Total Contacts in Automation - The number of unique contacts who entered the automation

Finished - The number of unique contacts who completed the automation. This includes contacts who organically made it to the end of
the automation and who completed the automation via "End Automation" admin action - Contacts Completion Rate - The number of unique contacts who finished the automation divided by the unique number of contacts who entered the automation
- Emails Sent - Emails Sent is the number of contacts who were sent an email from the automation
- Emails Sent Rate - Email Sent Rate is the number of contacts who were sent an email from the automation divided by the unique number of contacts who entered the automation
- # Opens - The number of unique contacts who opened the automation email.
- Open Rate - The number of unique contacts who opened the email divided by the number of unique contacts who were sent the automation email
- # Clicks - The number of unique contacts who clicked a link in your email
- Click Rate -The number of unique contacts who clicked a link in your email divided by the number of unique contacts who were sent the automation email

Revenue - Total amount of ecommerce revenue generated by your automation emails
- Shopify customers: Discounts used in orders attributed to the campaign will be excluded from the revenue amount shown
- WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Square customers: Discounts will not be excluded from the revenue amount shown
- Times-Series Chart - This chart displays daily counts of three different metrics: Sends, Opens, and Clicks
- Automation Campaign Metrics Table - This table shows performance metrics for each campaign in your automation
- Automation SMS Metrics Table - This table is available if you are using a "Send SMS" action in your automation. It shows performance metrics for SMS messages sent through your automation
Information included in the Automation Campaign Metrics table
The Automation Email metrics table is located under the Time-Series Chart. This table shows performance metrics for each campaign in your automation.
These metrics include:
- Campaign name - The name of the automation email
- Last Sent Date - Most recent send date of the automation email
- # Sends - Number of unique contacts who were sent the automation email

Revenue - Total amount of ecommerce revenue generated by the automation email

Export the Automation Email Metrics table
You can export the Automation Email Metrics table at any time. Doing so will allow you to save and manipulate campaign performance data outside of your ActiveCampaign account.
To export this table:
- Hover your mouse over the table.
- A vertical ellipsis will appear on the top right of the table. Click the ellipsis.
- Click "Download Data."
- Select the file format you wish to download the data to then click the "Download" button.
Access the Campaign Overview report
You can access the Campaign Overview report for any email in your automation from the Automation Email Metrics table. To do so:
- Click the ellipsis next to the campaign name in the Automation Campaign Message table.
- A modal window will appear. Click the "Campaign Overview" option.
A new window or tab will open in your browser and display performance metrics for that specific automated campaign.
Information included in the Automation SMS Metrics table
The Automation SMS metrics table is located under the Automation Email Metrics table. This table shows performance metrics for each SMS message in your automation. You will need to scroll down the page in order to see it.
These metrics include:
- SMS Message name - The name of the SMS message
- Last Sent Date - Most recent send date of the SMS message
- # Sends - Number of unique contacts who were sent the SMS message
- # Replies - Total number of SMS replies received from contacts
- # Unsubscribes - Number of unique contacts who unsubscribed from SMS messages
- Reply Rate - Number of unique contacts who were sent the SMS message divided by the number of unique contacts who replied to it
- Unsubscribe Rate - Number of unique contacts who were sent the SMS message divided by the number of unique contacts who unsubscribed
Export the SMS Message Metrics table
You can export the Automation SMS Metrics table at any time. Doing so will allow you to save and manipulate SMS performance data
outside of your ActiveCampaign account.
To export this table:
- Hover your mouse over the table.
- A vertical ellipsis will appear on the top right of the table. Click the ellipsis.
- Click "Download Data."
- Select the file format you wish to download the data to then click the "Download" button.
Access additional SMS reports
You can access additional reports for any SMS message in your automation from the SMS Message Metrics table. To do so:
- Click the ellipsis next to the message name in the Automation SMS Message table.
- A modal window will open and list four different reporting options:
- SMS Overview
- SMS Contacts
- SMS Replies
- SMS Unsubscribes
- Click any of the options listed to view that report.
A new window or tab will open in your browser and display report metrics for that specific SMS message.
How to view automation campaign metrics on the mobile app
You can view how your automation campaigns are performing at-a-glance using the ActiveCampaign mobile app. This helps you understand how an entire initiative is performing. All users with campaign reporting can access this mobile view.
With this report, you will understand how campaign messages in an automation are performing against each other or together. You can also view total counts and individual contacts that have completed or have yet to complete an automation.
You can see:
- Automation status
- Total Contacts: A breakdown of contacts who have completed or have not completed
- Total open rate
- Total click rate
- Total revenue (must have deep data integration)
- Opens, Clicks, Unsubscribes per campaign message
There are two paths to get to this automation campaign report on the ActiveCampaign mobile app:
- Tap on an automation campaign.
- Tap the "Details" view at the top of the screen (next to "Reports").
- Tap the Automation name in “Details.”

- Tap on the "Campaigns" tab.
- Scroll to an automation campaign on the "Campaigns" tab.
- Tap the automation name + chevron displayed on the card.
