Use the “Trigger messaging flow” step to transfer a contact from their current flow to another flow you specify. Once contacts transfer to the new flow, the old flow is marked as “Complete,” and their current flow is marked as “Running.”
You may want to use this step to break a larger or more complex flow into smaller, more manageable flows that can be reused as needed.
Take note
- You must create your destination or target flow before adding this step to your WhatsApp Messaging workflow
- Variables from the starting flow aren’t available in the destination flow. We recommend using the “Contact Update” step to save these variables
Configure the “Trigger messaging flow” step
- Click WhatsApp > Messaging Flows on the left menu.
- Edit or create a new Messaging Flow.
- If editing a flow, click a flow > Update > Steps. Click a node (+) in the builder where you want to place the action. A modal window will appear. Click the "Trigger messaging flow" option, then click the “Add” button
- If creating a new flow, a modal window will appear in the Flow builder. Click the "Trigger messaging flow" option, then click the “Add” button
- In the “Trigger a messaging flow” modal that appears:
- Click the pencil icon and give your step a name. We recommend using unique names that are short and descriptive
- Click the dropdown and select the flow that users should transfer to
- Click the “Jump to this step” button
This step is now added to your flow. When users or contacts hit this step, they will be directed to the flow you selected.
