How to create a deal

The Deals & CRM feature is available on the following plans:

  • Plus
  • Professional
  • Enterprise

A deal in a pipeline contains information pertaining to a potential sale or opportunity—it is where you develop your sales process and get your leads to take action. With your deal, you can have a primary contact and secondary contacts.

There are a few different ways you can add a deal to your pipeline. In this article, we'll show you how to:

How to create a deal from a pipeline

New deals can be manually created in any pipeline. To learn how to create a new deal from a pipeline, follow these steps:

1. From the Deals page, click the pipeline dropdown to select the pipeline you wish to add a deal to.

2. Decide which stage you wish to add a deal to and click "Add Deal."

You can also click "New Deal" at the top of the page.

3. The "Add Deal"  window will pop up:

Provide the following information for your deal:

Deal Title

You'll want to give a short, but descriptive title for your deal.

Deal Value and Currency

All deals are required to have a value and we'll default to USD for currency. You can change this by clicking into the value fields and providing new information.

Deal Description

This description will be visible in the Deal Info section of the profile page for the deal being created. You'll want to use this to include "sticky" important information about the deal.

Pipeline

The pipeline displayed here is the pipeline you selected in Step 1. You can change the pipeline that this deal is for by clicking the dropdown and clicking a different pipeline.

Stage

The Stage is the step in your sales process. The stage displayed here is the stage you selected in Step 2. To add the deal to a different stage, click the Stage dropdown and click a different option.

Deal Owner

The deal owner is an account user who has permission to view your pipeline. They will be assigned this deal and are responsible for managing it.

Contact's Email Address

All deals are attached to contacts, and all contacts are required to have an email address. In order to create a deal, you must provide the email address of the contact that is associated with this deal.

Name

This is the name of the contact associated with the deal. This field is not required, but it's helpful to have this field completed.

Organization

Click the dropdown to select the organization that the contact is affiliated with. Click the "Add New Organization" option in the dropdown to create a new organization for the contact. Completing this information is optional.

Phone

This is the phone number for your contact. Completing this information is optional.

4. Once you have completed the information in the "Add Deal" modal, click "Add Deal."

The deal will be added to your pipeline:

Create a deal from a contact's profile page

Deals can be created for any contact, right from their profile page. To learn how, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Contacts overview page and locate the contact you wish to create a deal for.

2. Click the contact you wish to create a deal for to open their profile page.

3. Click the "Deals" tab.

4. Click the "New Deal" button.

5. A "Add Deal" modal will open for the contact:

Provide the following information for your deal:

Deal Title

6. Click "Add Deal."

The Deal will be added to the Deal page for the contact:

Create a deal using an automation action

Deals can be created automatically for any contact that encounters the "Add Deal" action in your automation. To learn how to set this up, follow these steps:

1. From your automation, locate where you would like to add the "Add Deal" action.

2. Click the node (+) to pull up the "Add New Action" window.

3. Select "CRM."

4. Click "Add Deal"

5. The "Add a Deal" modal will open

Provide the following information for your deal:

Deal Title

You'll want to give a short, but descriptive title for your deal.

Deal Value and Currency

All deals are required to have a value and we'll default to USD for currency. You can change this by clicking into the value fields and providing new information.

Pipeline

You can change the pipeline that this deal is for by clicking the dropdown and clicking a different pipeline.

Stage

The Stage is the step in your sales process. To add the deal to a different stage, click the Stage dropdown and click a different option.

Deal Owner

The deal owner is an account user who has permission to view your pipeline. They will be assigned this deal and are responsible for managing it

6. Click "Save."

The action will be added to your automation immediately.

Any contact that encounters this step in your automation will have a deal created for them that uses the information you provided:
