E-commerce reporting explained

E-commerce reporting shows you how much money a specific email campaign generated. This information is displayed on all email campaign reports and does not include shipping or taxes from orders.

In order to track revenue generated from a campaign, you must first set up a Deep Data integration with BigCommerce, Shopify, or WooCommerce.

How revenue is attributed to a campaign

Revenue is attributed to a campaign if purchases are made within seven days of that campaign’s send date. This is called a conversion period and the timeframe cannot be adjusted.

For example, if a contact opened your campaign and made a purchase in your connected E-commerce store four days later, the revenue would be recorded for that campaign and you would see it in your campaign reports.

There are a few important notes about how we attribute revenue to a campaign:

  • Purchases must be made by contacts that the campaign was sent to.
  • Purchases must be made in a connected e-commerce store via BigCommerce, Shopify, or WooCommerce Deep Data integration.
  • Revenue is only tracked if a contact opens or clicks your campaign; revenue is not tracked if a contact receives your campaign and does not engage with it.
  • The 7-day conversion period begins when the campaign is sent to a list of contacts.
  • Revenue is attributed to the most recent campaign.
    • Only the last campaign a contact was sent and either opened or clicked within the conversion period is credited with revenue. For example, let’s say a contact receives Email A and does not engage with it for 5 days. Within those 5 days, you also send them Email B and they open it. After 5 days, the contact decides to open Email A and makes a purchase. Revenue generated from that purchase will not be attributed to Email A. Instead, it will be attributed to Email B because that was the last email received that they also engaged with.

How to view e-commerce revenue

E-commerce revenue data is available on the Campaign Performance report, Campaign Overview report, and in individual campaign reports. E-commerce revenue is not available for automation reports or automation email reports at this time.
