Using Shopify Kit Skills with ActiveCampaign

If you use the ActiveCampaign for Shopify integration, you can add Shopify's Kit Skills to your marketing arsenal. Kit is a Shopify app that acts as a free virtual assistant. It works by prompting you on your preferred communication channel and will offer to create and send automated emails to your customers through automation.

When Kit is combined with ActiveCampaign,  you recover more abandoned carts and gather product reviews from customers. Using Shopify's Kit with ActiveCampaign can save you time, increase your sales, and keep your customers engaged so you can focus on other parts of your business.

Take note

  • This app will create automation(s) for you in your ActiveCampaign account. Automations will be set it to "Active" upon creation so contacts can be added to them
  • Kit can create you one abandoned cart automation for each connected Shopify store
  • Kit can create you a product review automation for each product in your store. If someone purchased more than one product in an order, the automation will ask the contact to review the highest priced item
  • In order to use Kit with ActiveCampaign, you'll need the following:  
    • ActiveCampaign app installed in your Shopify store
    • Kit app installed in your Shopify store

Recover abandoned carts with Kit

With this skill, Kit will "listen" for abandoned carts in your connected Shopify store. If a customer abandons a cart for the first time after you install the ActiveCampaign app, Kit will send you a prompt. This prompt is sent to you on your preferred communication channel.

In this prompt, Kit will let you know that a customer abandoned their cart and will offer to create you an abandoned cart automation. In addition, Kit will add the customer who abandoned their cart to the new automation. Customers who abandon their cart in the future will also be added to this automation.

Note that if you already have an active automation with an "Abandons Cart" trigger and a "Send email" action, Kit will not send you a prompt.

If you reply "Yes" to Kit's prompt, Kit will create a simple automation for you and set it to "Active." This automation will be located in your ActiveCampaign account

If you reply "No" to Kit's prompt, Kit will not create an automation for you and will refrain from prompting you in the future.

Abandoned Cart automation by Kit

The abandoned cart automation by Kit will contain an "Abandons cart" trigger and a "Send email" action.

The "Send email" action will use a simple, predefined abandoned cart email template. The email template will be called "Shopify Abandoned Cart Email (Kit)" and will display the following elements:

  • Store name in a banner at the top of the email
  • Abandoned cart content block
  • "Return to cart" button. When a contact clicks this button, they will be redirected to their cart where they can complete their purchase 

The abandoned cart content block will dynamically display up to three items in the customer's abandoned cart. Items in the email will be sorted from highest price to lowest price and will display the following elements:

  • Product image
  • Product name
  • Quantity
  • Price
  • Product description

Ask for product reviews with Kit

With this skill, Kit will "listen" for customers who purchased a product in your connected Shopify store. If a customer purchased a product for the first time after you install the ActiveCampaign app, Kit will send you a prompt. This prompt is sent to you on your preferred communication channel.

In this prompt, Kit will let you know that a customer purchased a product in your store and will offer to set up an email automation to ask for product reviews. In addition, Kit will add the customer who made the purchase to the new automation. Customers who purchase the product in the future will also be added to this automation.

Product Review automations by Kit

An automation will be created for the highest priced product in a customer's order that prompted the Kit skill. An automation will not be created for every product in the customer's order.

The Product Review automation that Kit creates will be called "Product Review: %Product_Name% (Kit)" where %Product_Name% is the name of the purchased product and set it to "Active." If more than one product was purchased in an order, %Product_Name% will the name of the highest priced product in that order.

Each product review automation will contain the following elements:

  • A segmented "Makes a purchase" trigger
  • 3-day Wait action
  • "Send email" action

The "Send email" action will use a simple, predefined product review email. The email will be called "Product Review: %Product_Name% (Kit)" where %Product_Name% is the name of the product that was purchased.

The product review email will address the customer by their first name by using a personalization tag. In addition, the email will display the following:

  • Store name in a banner at the top of the email
  • Product image
  • Stars image
  • "Leave a Review" button

The product image, stars image, and button will all link to the product page in your store where customers can leave a review.

What is my preferred communication channel?

Your preferred communication channel can be SMS, the Shopify Ping mobile app, Facebook Messager, or iMessage. This channel is configured in your Shopify account.

How long does it take for Kit to make an automation?

Kit can create the automation in a matter of minutes.

Can I view the automation or the automation email Kit creates before it goes live?

No. Once Kit creates the automation, it will be set to "active" so contacts can be added to it.

Can I edit the automation that Kit creates?

Yes! You can edit the automation by adding additional actions.

Can I edit the email that Kit creates in the automation?

Absolutely! You can edit the email to better fit your needs and brand.

What happens if I make the automation "Inactive"?

If you make the automation "Inactive" contacts who meet the trigger conditions will not be added to it and they will not proceed through the workflow.

How often will I get prompts from Kit regarding an abandoned cart?

Kit will only send you one prompt a day. If you say "Yes" to Kit, Kit will create an abandoned cart automation for your connected Shopify store and will stop prompting you. If you say "No" to Kit, Kit will stop sending you prompts.

How often will I get prompts from Kit regarding product reviews?

Kit will only send you one prompt a day. If you say "Yes" to Kit, Kit will create a product review automation for your connected Shopify store and will stop prompting you. If you say "No" to Kit, Kit will stop sending you prompts.

Why didn't Kit prompt me to create an automation?

There could be a few reasons why Kit didn't prompt you. You'll want to check the following:

  • The Shopify Kit app is installed in your Shopify store
  • Your Shopify store is connected to your ActiveCampaign account
  • Did Kit already prompt you today? Note that Kit will only prompt you once per day. If you tell Kit "No" Kit will stop sending your prompts.
