If your campaign has several link clicks per contact, it could be due to virus protection or a type of security scan on the contact's inbox. These excessive or false link clicks occur when the email is delivered to the contact's inbox.
Unfortunately, this is not something that ActiveCampaign can control. False clicks appear as "true" clicks, or email opens in ActiveCampaign because it's not possible to discern if a contact is performing the action or if it is the virus protection/security scan.
Usually, this issue occurs with business email accounts because most personal email accounts do not apply the same virus or security measures.
If you suspect that your link clicks are fake, we recommend any of the following actions:
- Create a segment of contacts who clicked or opened an email and exclude those with business email addresses
- Collect personal email addresses instead of business email addresses
