The "Social Links" content block lets you add social icons to your campaigns and automation emails. You can use these icons to redirect subscribers to your social media profiles or let subscribers share your communication on their social networks.

Adding social links to your communications

Add Social Links to your email using the Email Designer (launched in 2022):

  1. Navigate to the campaign or automation email you want to update.
  2. Click Edit to access the email designer.
  3. Drag the Social Links content block to your email.
  4. Click on the Social Links container in your campaign to trigger the sidebar settings menu. Here, you can choose to have the links open to your social network pages, or you can choose to let subscribers share your communication in their social networks.
  5. To redirect subscribers to your social media network(s), choose Site under the "Link" dropdown. Then, enter your social media URL into the field to the right.
  6. To let subscribers share your communication in their social networks, click the Link dropdown and choose an option under "Share" in the dropdown.
  7. Update the "Preview Link" with the URL of the social media page that you want shared
  8. If a network you do not want to use is listed, click the trash icon to delete it.
  9. To reorder social networks in this block, click the delete icon to remove the social networks. One social network will be left; this will be the first icon shown. To add the second icon, click the Plus (+) symbol next to the icon size and click the social network icon. Repeat this process by clicking the Plus (+) symbol and choosing the social network icon in the order you'd like.

Add Social Links to your email using the Classic Designer:

  1. Navigate to the campaign or automation email you want to update.
  2. Click "Edit" to access the email designer. 
  3. Drag the "Social Links" content block to your email.
  4. Once added, the "Social Link Builder" modal will appear. Here, you can choose to have the links open to your social network pages, or you can choose to let subscribers share your communication in their social networks.
  5. To redirect subscribers to your social media network(s), enter your social media URLs into the appropriate URL fields.
  6. If a network you do not want to use is listed, toggle it to "Off."
  7. To reorder social networks in this block, click the hamburger icon for the network you want to move and drag it to your desired spot.

Customize your social icons

You can customize how the social icons appear in your email by adjusting the button style and theme.

Customize your icons

Customize social icons using the Email Designer (launched 2022):

  1. From your email, click into the Social Icons container to trigger the sidebar settings menu.
  2. In the sidebar, click on the field with the social icons to reveal the list of icon customization options. Click the design to choose it.
  3. Click the Size dropdown to the right to choose the size of your icons.
  4. Click the Plus (+) symbol to add additional social networks.

Your changes will be automatically saved, and your customized social icons will be added to your email.

Customize social icons using the Classic Designer:

  1. From your email, click the "Customize" tab in the "Social Link Builder" modal.
  2. Under "Button Style," choose to have the icons appear as "Flat" or "3D" from the first dropdown.
    • With the "Flat" option, choose to have the icons appear as solid or show an outline of the button instead. You can also choose to have the buttons appear as colorful, dark, or light
    • With the "3D" option, choose to have the icons appear as colorful, dark, or light

Customize your theme 

This option applies to the Classic Designer only. In the Email Designer (launched 2022), the theme is chosen while you customize the icons in the instructions above.

The themes you can choose from are square, round, or hexagon. To select a theme:

  1. Click the shape you want to use under "Theme." A checkmark will indicate the shape you selected. We'll also show you what those buttons will look like in the "Preview" box.
  2. Once you have created and styled your social icons, click "Save."

Your customized social icons will then be added to your email.

Edit your social links

Once the "Social links" content block is added to your email, you can make changes before sending it out to contacts. 

Edit social links using the Email Designer (launched 2022):

  1. From your email, click into the Social Icons container to trigger the sidebar settings menu.
  2. On the right pane, you can:
    • Edit the Background color
    • Edit the social icons you want to use, remove or add more icons
    • Adjust alignment to have the icons appear to the left, right, or center of the container
    • Adjust the indent between icons
    • Adjust the padding above and below the container, or click the Custom toggle to adjust the padding to the left and right
    • Customize the padding of the desktop and mobile version of the email by clicking the mobile icon
    • Add an anchor link to the social icon block
    • Choose to hide the social icon block on the desktop or mobile version of the email

Edit social links using the Classic Designer:

  1. Click the "Social Links" content block
  2. A modal toolbar will appear. Here you can:
    • Edit the social icons you want to use, remove icons, or add more icons
    • Display the icons as vertical or horizontal
    • Have the icons appear to the left, right, or center of the content block

Reporting

If contacts share your email on Facebook or X, we'll display that information on the Reports page in your account. To view this information, click on your campaign from the Reports page and select "Social" from the left menu.

This page will show you the total shares, number of X mentions, and number of Facebook shares. We will also list which contacts shared your campaign and on the network where it was shared.
