You can use the Video block to add a video to your direct and automated campaigns.

How the Video block works

You'll be asked to supply the video's URL when you add the video block to your campaign. Once added, the Video block will generate a screenshot from your video and display it in your email with a Play button. When contacts click the Play button in your email, a new window or tab will open where they can view your video.

The video content block only works with videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo that are made public. If you cannot host your video on YouTube or Vimeo, check out our suggested workaround below.

Note that it's not possible to embed a video directly into your emails. This is because most email clients will not display your video and it can cause your email to be flagged as spam.

Add a video to your direct campaign

  1. Click Campaigns on the left menu.
  2. Open or create a new campaign.
  3. In the Campaign Settings page, hover over the campaign design to the right and click the “Edit design” or “Create with email designer” button.
  4. In the Campaign Designer, drag the Video block to your campaign layout.
  5. Click into the video block to reveal the right sidebar options.

  6. Add the video URL to the space provided.
  7. Adjust the settings for your video in the right sidebar to your liking. All changes will be automatically saved to your campaign.

We’ll generate a thumbnail from your video and display it as an image with a play button. It is not possible to choose which thumbnail will be displayed here.

Add a video to an automated campaign

  1. Click "Automations" on the left menu.
  2. Open the automation or create a new automation and include a "Send an email" action.
  3. Click the email in the automation you wish to edit.
  4. A modal window will appear. Click the "Edit" button.
  5. Drag the Video block to your campaign layout.
  6. A modal window will appear. Add the video URL to the space provided.
  7. Optional: Add an Action. Click the "Add an Action" button to perform additional actions when the contact open your video. Actions include:
    • Add tags
    • Remove tags
    • Subscribe to list
    • Unsubscribe from list
    • Add to automation
    • End automation
  8. Click the "OK" button

What if my video is not hosted on YouTube or Vimeo?

If you are not able to host your video on YouTube or Vimeo, you can still include a link to your video in an email by following the steps below:

  1. Take a screenshot of your video and download the image file.
  2. Open your campaign or automation email.
  3. Drag the Image block to your campaign layout, then click it
  4. A modal toolbar will appear. Click the New Image icon
  5. The Content Manager will open. Click the "Add file" button and follow the steps to add an image to the Content Manager.
  6. Once the image is uploaded, hover your mouse over it then click "Select image." The image will be added to your email.
  7. An "Options" tab for the Image block will automatically open on the right pane. Add your video URL to the "Link" field provided.
  8. Optional: Add an Action. You can perform additional actions when a contact clicks the image in your campaign. To do so, click the Gear icon located in the "Link" field. A modal window will appear. Click the "Add an Action" button and select one of the following:
    • Add tags
    • Remove tags
    • Subscribe to list
    • Unsubscribe from list
    • Add to automation
    • End automation

      When finished, click "OK."
