In this article, we’ll cover how to navigate and view your automation in the Automation Builder Canvas.
If you are looking for a step-by-step guide on how to create an automation, see our Walkthrough on using ActiveCampaign's automation builder.
How to get to your automation
To enter the automation builder:
- Click Automations on the left menu to navigate to the Automations Overview page.
- Click the “Create an automation” button in the upper right-hand corner or click on the name of an existing automation from the list of automations.
How to navigate and view your automation
Once you are in your automation, there are a few ways you can move around the canvas and view your automation while you are working on it. You can find the following view controls at the bottom left of your automation:
Automation minimap
The automation minimap shows you where your canvas is within the larger automation.
Zoom controls
The “-” and “+” below the minimap allow you to zoom in and out of the automation with a clear percentage or click the percentage button to snap back to 100%.
The zoom percentage will default to 100%, but you can go as high as 150% and as low as 25%.
You can also use the following hotkeys to zoom:
Hot Key Command | Action |
CMD + | Zoom in |
CMD - | Zoom out |
CMD scroll with your mouse | Zoom in or out |
“Fit-to-view”
This allows you to quickly snap and view the entire automation tree on your canvas. The fit-to-view button is on the right of the zoom controls.
This allows you to download a PNG image of your automation from the canvas for easy sharing and documenting. “Download image” will take a screenshot of the current viewport. The “Download image” button is on the right of the “fit-to-view” button.
- To save the whole automation, click the “Fit-to-view” button and then click the “Download image” button
- To save part of the automation, zoom in or out and then click the “Download image” button
