If you use ActiveCampaign’s Site Tracking feature, you can easily create segments of contacts that visited your website pages.
Take note
You must set up Site Tracking and allow enough time for contacts to visit your site before following the steps below.
How to create a segment based on page views
-
Click Contacts
on the left menu, then click “Segments” on the left panel.
- Next either prompt Active Intelligence to look for contacts that visited your website, or create your conditions from scratch.
- To build your conditions from scratch:
- Click the “Start from scratch instead” option
- Complete the Segment name and description fields
- Type your segment requirements into the Active Intelligence prompt field, or select conditions from the segment builder
- To select conditions in the segment builder:
- Click the “Select a condition” field, then select “Site Data”
- Select the “Has visited” condition.
- Click the middle field and select an operator. Note that you can define the condition based on partial matches and exact matches. You are also able to refer to the entire domain and specific URLs
- In the value field (right-most field), input either the URL or domain
- Click the "Save" button
Your segment saves on the Segments page. To view contacts that meet your segment conditions, click the segment’s “Total Contacts” value.
Note that you can build more complex segments by creating more conditions–you can also set the segment to look for contacts who meet one of or all of the conditions using “And/Or” logic. Read Create and save segments to learn more.
Use Active Intelligence to create segments
Instead of building segment conditions from scratch, you can have Active Intelligence do it for you.
To do so:
- Click Contacts
on the left menu.
- Select “Segments” on the left panel.
- Type your prompt into the field at the top of the Segments page.
- Click the arrow button.
Active Intelligence then translates your prompt into segment conditions and executes the search. You can see your segment conditions by clicking the “Build with segment conditions” dropdown.
For example, you can use prompts such as:
- Show me contacts who visited my website in the last 30 days
- Create a segment of contacts who visited my site
- Find contacts that have been to [specific page URL]
- Show me contacts who visited my pricing page but didn’t make a purchase
- Find contacts who visited my website more than 3 times this month
The more detail you provide about which pages, how often, and when contacts visited your website, the more targeted your results will be.
