How to Move or Copy actions in automations

As you work through creating an automation, you may notice that you need to make a few edits to actions that already exist. With the Move/Copy action you can move or copy an action or set of actions to a new area without having to delete and rebuild.

Single action

To Move or Copy a single action:

1. Drag and drop the existing action on the "+" symbol where you want to move or copy this action in your automation.
2. The following modal will appear:
   
   
   
   Note: You will only be able to click “Move single action” or “Copy single action” with an automation with a single branch. See the next section to learn how to move multiple actions.
   
   
3. Click if you want to move or copy the single action:
   • Move single action
     This will move the action to the new location.
     
   • Copy single action
     This will keep the action in the original location and make a copy of it in the new location.
     
     

       If you are moving a “Wait” or “Goal” action, there are several options that will be presented to address any contacts that may be in that “Wait” or “Goal” action, even if you do not have contacts currently. Please choose the option that best fits your needs.

     
     
     
     
4. Click “OK” when you are ready to move or copy your action.

Multiple actions

Note: Moving multiple actions requires an open path using an If/else action. You cannot move multiple actions into the same path.

To Move or Copy multiple actions:

1. Create a new If/else action, if you do not already have one. You need an open path to move multiple actions.
2. Drag and drop the first action of the multiple actions on the "+" symbol on the open path where you want to move or copy these actions in your automation.
3. The following modal will appear:
   
4. Click if you want to move or copy the single action or all actions:
   
   • Move single action
     This will move the single action to the new path.
   • Move this action and all following actions
     This will move the action you have moved and all actions following to the new path.
   • Copy single action
     This will keep the single action in the original location and make a copy of it in the new location.
   • Copy this action and all following actions
     This will copy the action you have moved and all actions following to the new path.
