Are contacts collected at trade shows considered opt-ins?

If you collect email addresses offline via a form that clearly indicates someone is signing up to join your email list, then these contacts are considered opted-in.

If you compile a list of email addresses from business cards you receive at a trade show, then these contacts are not considered opted-in, even if they verbally state that they want to receive communications from you. Sending unsolicited emails to addresses that were acquired in this way typically produces a high abuse rate, and could cause your account to be shut down. For more information on how to opt in any contacts you have collected offline, please see this help document.
