As of September 30, 2024, we updated our segment experience and now manage segments on the Segments Overview page. Your existing legacy list segments under Contacts > Lists > Segments are ready to be converted to the updated experience. Learn how to convert legacy list segments to the updated segments experience.
In this article, you’ll learn how to manage your saved segments on the Segments Overview page.
Navigating the Segment Overview page
The Segment Overview page is where you can manage your saved segments. Click Contacts > Segments to get to the Segment Overview page:
- Create a Segment button
- Filters
- Segment Name
- Segment Description
- AI-suggested segment example
- Contact counts
- Last Refreshed date
- Refresh button
- Last Edited Date - Last date the segment was edited
- Edit
- Delete
Overview of contact counts
The “Active Contacts” and “Total Contact” column shows you the number of contacts that meet the segment conditions as of the “Last Refreshed” date.
“Active Contacts” shows you the number of contacts that are subscribed to at least one list and meet the segment conditions.
“Total Contacts” shows you the contacts that meet the segment conditions regardless of list status.
You can manually refresh the contact count in these columns by clicking the refresh button to the right of the “Last Refreshed” date.

AI-suggested segments
AI-suggested segments appear in your account with the sparkle icon next to the segment name. AI creates three segments tailored to your account based on your user activity, behavior, and industry trends.
If you delete an AI segment and wish to have it restored, please reach out to our customer experience team.
How to edit a segment
- Click Contacts > Segments to get to the Segments Overview page.
- Click the segment name or click the “Edit” button to the right of the segment you want to edit.
- Modify your segment as you wish. To modify the conditions, use the dropdowns in the segment builder to use different segmenting options. You can also add additional conditions by clicking “Add another condition” or create new segment groups by clicking “Add New Segment Group.”
- When you are done editing your segment, click the “Save” button.
How to delete a segment
Once a segment is deleted, the action cannot be undone. We are not able to recover the segment.
- Click Contacts > Segments to get to the Segments Overview page.
- Click the arrow to the right of the “Edit” button for the segment you want to edit.
- Click “Delete.”
- Click “OK” to delete the segment.
