To ensure your automation works for your intended contacts, you can first test the automation function by creating a test contact. You can then send the test contact through the automation to check for any problems.

Take note

When testing actions that look for an activity, your test contact must have performed that activity to meet the action conditions. For example, an "If/Else" condition that checks if a contact has opened a past campaign or submitted a form.

Test your automation with a test contact

  1. Click Contacts.
  2. Click the "Add a contact" button.
  3. Complete the new contact record form with the test contact info. For this test contact, make sure that you use contact methods, like an email address or phone number, that you have access to.
  4. Scroll down to the "Automations" section of the contact record, then click the "+ Add" button.
  5. Add your test contact to your automation and follow the automation steps to assess the functionality.
