How do I find contacts located in the EU?

You can use the Advanced Search tool to locate contacts based in the European Union (EU).

This solution uses the "Predictive Geography" search option. Predictive Geography locates contacts based on their IP address. Contacts gathered in this search condition may not be 100% accurate. 

For example, if a US-based contact interacted with a campaign while traveling in France, we would gather that IP address from France and they would show up in an advanced search for contacts located in the EU. In addition if a contact from another EU country, such as Spain, was added to your ActiveCampaign account via API and not an ActiveCampaign form, we would not have their location determined until they interacted with a campaign.

Steps to search for contacts located in the EU

1. Click Contacts on the left menu to navigate to the Contacts Overview page.
2. Click the “Advanced Search” button located in the search field.
3. The segment builder will appear. Here you can prompt Active Intelligence to look for contacts who were sent a campaign, or you can build your search conditions from scratch. 
4. To build your search conditions from scratch:
   • Click the “Build with segment conditions” dropdown field
   • Click the “Select a condition” field and select “Predictive Geography” > “Country/Region”
   • Ensure that the operator field is set to “Is”
   • Click the value field, then scroll down the list of countries until you arrive at the European Union. Click the European Union option
   • Click the “Search” button

Use Active Intelligence to create an advanced search

Instead of building search conditions from scratch, you can have Active Intelligence do it for you. 

To do so, click the “Advanced Search” button, type your prompt into the field provided, then hit the “Return” or “Enter” key on your keyboard.

Active Intelligence then translates your prompt into segment conditions and executes the search. You can see your search conditions by clicking the “Build with segment conditions” dropdown. Contacts who meet your conditions display below the segment builder.

For example, you can use prompts such as:

• Create a segment of contacts located in Germany
• Find contacts located in any EU country including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, or Ireland 
• Create a segment of contacts with a European time zone
