With ActiveCampaign, you can search and use a contact’s list status with the segment builder. For example, you can easily search for all active or not active contacts on a list or multiple lists. This article defines the available conditions and potential use cases for the contact’s list status category.

Use Cases In Practice
Below are common questions that using a segment with Contact List Status conditions can help answer with the conditions to create these segments.
Do I have a large audience to target in Chicago?
This segment will show the total count of ALL contacts that are currently active (meaning they are subscribed to at least one list and eligible to receive communication) AND that have their location custom field value set to Chicago. This segment allows you to understand the size of the audience you intend to target in current or future efforts.
- Segment for “Is subscribed (active)” then “at least one list.”
- Select the AND statement to include your additional condition
- Segment for the “Location” custom field then “is” and “Chicago.”
- Click search.
How many subscribed (active) contacts do I have in my database
This segment will show the total count of ALL currently subscribed (active) contacts in your database. Remember, your subscribed (active) contacts count toward your contact limit.
Note: You can view this on your ActiveCampaign dashboard using the active filter and also on the contact overview page using the "Status" > "Active" filters.
- Segment for “Is subscribed to list (active)” then “at least one list.”
- Click search.
How can I check for contacts that were missed or never added to any of my lists?
This segment will show the total count of ALL contacts who have never been added to any of your lists. This can happen if you have forms that are missing the action to subscribe contacts to your lists automatically, if you have integrations setup that are missing the step to add to a list, or if you have an API connection pushing contacts in without subscribing them to a list.
- Segment for “Has never been added to list” then “Every list.”
- Click search.
How many contacts are unsubscribed from this particular list or these particular lists?
This segment will show the total count of ALL contacts who are unsubscribed from the particular list(s) you selected.
- Segment for “Is unsubscribed from” then “All of,” then select your applicable list(s).
- Click search.
